Fan dies after falling from roof in Colo Colo stadium during the classic against U of Chile
Football is in mourning once again, this time for the death of a fan who attended the Monumental Stadium in Chile; the case is still under investigation
A fan of Chilean Colo Colo died after falling from the roof of the Monumental Stadium while the national football classic against Universidad de Chile was being played, the country's authorities reported this Sunday.
The first reports indicate that the fan fell from the roof of the venue after trying to irregularly change stands, resulting in multiple fractures.
According to the local press, the man was 39 years old and, as a result of his serious injuries, was rushed to La Florida Hospital, where he died.
While the match between the white team and the university team continued, personnel from the Eastern Prosecutor's Office and police officers reportedly arrived at the scene to carry out the investigation and clarify the case.
Colo Colo and Chilean football have mourned the death of four white fans so far this year: at the beginning of April, two fans died outside the Monumental stadium in Santiago in a confusing incident between fans and police authorities before the Copa Libertadores match against Brazilian side Fortaleza.
A day before its centenary, in mid-April, the club reported the death at the age of 90 of its iconic fan nicknamed 'Maria Colo Colo', which added to the tragic death of the two young people ended up canceling the celebrations of the most popular club in the South American country.
