Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old activist and mother from New York, was found dead at her home in Ireland, in a case that authorities are investigating as a homicide, after her 13-year-old daughter discovered the body.

According to the Irish Police (Garda), the minor found her mother under a duvet inside the family home on July 5. The woman had serious head injuries.

After the discovery, emergency services went to the home, where they confirmed Carney's death.

The authorities began an investigation for murder and maintain the victim's romantic partner as the main suspect.

International media such as The Irish Times and Irish Examiner indicated that the man would have left Ireland a few hours after the crime is estimated to have occurred.

According to the first reports, the suspect would have traveled by ferry to the United Kingdom, so the Garda is coordinating with the British authorities to locate him.
