Iran analyzes latest US proposal to end war
According to Iranian media, Tehran has asked Washington to end the war on all fronts in addition to lifting sanctions, among others.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Tehran is weighing a new US proposal to end the war, amid threats from Donald Trump for Iran to give the “right answers” to end the war that began on February 28.
“The exchange of messages has taken place in several rounds, and we have received the opinions of the American side, which we are currently analyzing,” said the diplomat, quoted by the Nournews media.
Baghaei indicated that the two sides are working on a 14-point text that Iran presented several weeks ago, in search of a formula that satisfies both countries.
This latest version of the text would have been brought to Tehran by Pakistan's Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who arrived in the Iranian capital on Tuesday, on his second trip to the Islamic Republic in less than a week.
According to Iranian media, Tehran has asked Washington to end the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, the lifting of sanctions, the release of blocked Iranian assets, compensation for war damage, the recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and postponing negotiations on its nuclear program until later.
