Jim Beam announces the closure of its production plant in Clermont
Production of one of the world's most famous bourbon whiskeys will move to Kentucky
In a statement, the famous bourbon whiskey brand, Jim Beam, announced that it will soon close its plant located in Clermont, but plans to move its production to Kentucky.
“We have informed our teams that, while we will continue distilling at our FBN artisanal distillery in Clermont and at our larger distillery, Booker Noe, in Boston, “We plan to pause distillation at our main distillery on the James B. Beam campus during 2026 while we take the opportunity to invest in facility improvements,” the company stated. According to details provided by the whiskey maker, the plant in Clermont will close from January 1st until the end of 2026. Jim Beam indicated that they are constantly evaluating their production levels to meet consumer demand. The globally recognized brand also noted in the statement: “We continue to evaluate how best to utilize our workforce during this transition, and discussions with the union are ongoing.” Furthermore, it reported that for tourists wishing to experience Kentucky's Bourbon Trail, the James B. Beam campus visitor center will remain open “so that visitors can enjoy the full James B. Beam experience,” it added. Finally, according to data from the Treasury Department, whiskey production has fallen to one of its lowest levels in recent months. Lower levels in years, so it's unclear whether the decision to pause production in Clermont is related to the drop in demand.
