Oscars: The Academy announced the dates for its next two editions
The most important awards in film will celebrate their 99th and 100th editions at Hollywood's iconic Dolby Theatre before moving to the Peacock Theatre
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences cleared the way for the film industry by announcing the dates for the 99th and 100th editions of the Oscars.
With this announcement, the organization not only establishes its mid-term calendar but also begins the countdown to the historic celebration of its first century.
According to the information released, the 99th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 14, 2027. A year later, the highly anticipated gala, the 100th Academy Awards, will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2028. Both ceremonies will remain at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, reaffirming this venue as the epicenter of global cinematic excellence. This announcement is part of a broader strategy called “Academy100,” a global initiative designed to celebrate the centennial of the awards and ensure the future of cinema. “In honor of the 100th edition in 2028, Academy100 will be an outreach and revenue diversification campaign that will help boost the global film industry,” the institution stated. These will be the final broadcasts of the Oscars ceremony by its regular distributor, ABC, before it moves to YouTube starting in 2029. The Academy also announced a ten-year agreement to move the ceremony to downtown Los Angeles starting in 2029, to the Peacock Theatre, which also hosts other awards such as the Emmys. The nominees for the 99th Academy Awards will be announced on January 21, 2027.
