Social Security will send advance payment of up to $1,400 to SSI beneficiaries
This Friday, January 30, Supplemental Security Income payments will be advanced due to a schedule adjustment
This week, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will send payments to the millions of beneficiaries insured under the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program.
SSI checks are distributed once during the first few days of each month; However, Social Security makes some adjustments to the payment schedule when it coincides with a weekend or holiday. Therefore, SSI payments for the month of February will be advanced to this Friday, January 30, so that beneficiaries do not experience delays in receiving their benefits. The Supplemental Security Income program, as its name indicates, is a supplement to Social Security payments. In this case, those who may qualify are low-income retirees under the age of 65, senior citizens, or children with disabilities and low incomes. The amounts distributed each month depend on the beneficiary's circumstances. Individuals receive $994, couples $1,491, and essential workers—those who provide care to SSI recipients—receive $498 each month. The next payments for this benefit will be made on Friday, February 27. This is not a double check but rather an advance on the distribution date, as the original date falls on a weekend.
