Ukraine hits two Russian refineries in Tatarstan with intense airstrikes
Ukrainian forces expand offensive against oil processors in other regions of Russia
This morning, Ukraine hit and burned two refineries in the Russian region of Tatarstan with its air attacks, and a chemical plant that produces synthetic material used to make missiles in Samara, according to the Ukrainian General Staff.
One of the two refineries attacked is called TANEKO and has an annual processing capacity of more than 16 million tons per year. The infrastructure produces, among other petroleum derivatives, diesel and jet fuel. The other affected refinery, TANF-NK, processes heavy oil with high sulfur content and gas condensates.
Both infrastructures are located in the city of Nizhnekamsk in the Tatarstan region, in the center of the European part of Russia. While the attacked chemical complex is located in the city of Tolyati in the Samara region.
Energy sector is frequently attacked
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, as a result of the attacks, fires have broken out in the three infrastructures. In addition, it reported other attacks against observation and command points in the Russian region of Kursk and in the Russian-occupied areas of eastern Ukraine, where kyiv forces have also hit Russian troop concentrations, an artillery material depot and logistics centers.
Ukraine attacks refineries and other energy, industrial and military targets within the Russian Federation virtually every night.
