Oman and Jordan denounce Iranian attack amid escalation with the US
Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates were also hit by Iran's offensive against US bases in those countries.
Oman and Jordan confirmed that their territories were attacked by Iranian drones and missiles this Sunday, amid escalating tension between the United States and Iran.
After the US attack on Iran, caused by the attack against a Cyprus-flagged ship that was crossing the Strait of Hormuz, the Islamic Republic launched an offensive against all the countries of the Persian Gulf and Jordan, which have bases with a US presence in those countries, in retaliation.
An Omani security source reported that “several sites in the Musandam region were targeted by drone attacks,” according to the official Omani news agency ONA, which also indicated that the sultanate condemned and repudiated these attacks, and that it is “taking all necessary measures to address these events and preserve the security of the country and its residents.”
The unattributed action against Oman comes a few hours after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Muscat to talk with Omani and Qatari officials about the future management of the Strait of Hormuz.
For its part, Qatar, a mediating country between Washington and Tehran, was also the target of actions launched by Iran, which have caused at least three injuries, including a child, due to falling shrapnel as a result of the interception of Iranian projectiles.
In addition, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan have also been targets of Iranian attacks this morning.
Three Iranian missiles fall in Jordan
The Jordanian Army assured that three missiles from Iran fell this Sunday (07/12/2026) in various parts of the country.
The Armed Forces - citing an anonymous official military source from the General Command of the Army - stated in a statement that "three missiles from Iranian territory fell at dawn today, Sunday, in various parts of the territory of the Kingdom, with no human casualties and minor material damage reported."
The Army pointed out that they will not allow the kingdom's airspace or territory to be used as "a scene of conflicts that threaten its security and stability, and that they will respond firmly to any threat that affects the sovereignty of the State, the integrity of its territory and the security of its citizens."
Jordan, which hosts bases with a US presence in the country, was also the target of an Iranian attack three days ago.
