US launches third round of attacks on Iran for attacking a ship in the Strait of Hormuz
US Central Command again attacked Iran for insisting on keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed and for severely damaging a ship
The United States Central Command (Centcom) announced that, this Saturday, the US navy launched a third round of attacks against Iran, this in retaliation for an Iranian offensive directed against a container ship sailing in the Strait of Hormuz.
Considering that it had used an “unauthorized route” through the maritime space that the Islamic Republic shares with Oman, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) decided to attack the Cypriot-flagged container ship GFS Galaxy.
Through a statement shared on social networks, Centcom reported that the indicated vessel suffered “significant” damage to its engine room and one of its crew members is missing.
Faced with this position assumed by the Islamic Republic, the American militia was forced to take action.
“Iran was given a new opportunity to demonstrate its adherence to the Memorandum of Understanding after being held responsible for previous attacks on merchant ships, but it has failed again.
In response, the United States is imposing a high cost by continuing to undermine Iran's ability to attack civilian sailors and merchant vessels freely transiting the strait.
The attacks are carried out under the order of the commander in chief,” the letter states.
Through a publication shared on social networks, Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense, practically anticipated that more destructive days are coming against the government in Tehran.
"Iran made a bad decision. Now it is paying the consequences," he wrote.
Prior to the attack orchestrated by Centcom, President Donald Trump accepted that talks with Iran to reach an agreement would continue, but that another ceasefire would no longer be possible.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue the ‘talks.’ We have agreed to do so, but the United States has made it clear to them, without a doubt, that the ceasefire is OVER,” he wrote on the Truth Social platform.
So far, the Tehran government has not released any response regarding the damage suffered by some of its facilities and the strategy to follow in the coming hours.
