Hyundai surprises with the interior of the new Elexio
Hyundai presented the interior of its new electric SUV, the Elexio, a model initially developed for the Chinese market that could set the standard
Today, a long-lasting battery or striking aesthetics are no longer enough; comfort, connectivity and the on-board experience are taking on an unprecedented importance. Hyundai knows this and has decided to take a step forward with the new Elexio, its latest electric SUV, which it has equipped with an interior that breaks with everything known within the firm.
Designed mainly for the Chinese market, the Elexio could end up landing in other territories, including Europe.
But even if its marketing were geographically limited, the truth is that this model proposes a new interior design language that could be transferred to future generations of Hyundai electrics.
One of the most striking aspects of this proposal is its immense 27-inch panoramic panel with 4K resolution, which extends from side to side on the front dashboard.
It is not just a large screen, but a complete redesign of the cabin that offers an immersive visual experience for the driver and front passenger.
The brand has just officially announced its redesign of the cabin. In this one, unlike the current models, a new 27-inch panoramic screen with 4K resolution is fitted that runs almost the entire dashboard. This offers information and entertainment from the center of the assembly to the front of the passenger.
For the driver, there is a second, smaller screen focused on essential information: speed, battery, remaining range, and other technical data about the vehicle.
Beyond the technological aspect, the Elexio also focuses on a practical and functional approach.
The center console can be slid horizontally to adjust to the user's preferences, and the cabin includes no less than 29 storage compartments, a detail especially designed for families or those who use the car daily as a mobile office.
The Hyundai Elexio also includes features such as a dual wireless smartphone charging pad, as well as a large number of storage spaces (29 spaces, specifically). The center console can be moved horizontally to suit the tastes of its users.
This model is based on the well-known E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) platform, the same one Hyundai uses for its IONIQ range and other electric cars. Thanks to this base, the Elexio combines balanced proportions, great interior space, and a low center of gravity that improves its dynamic behavior.
The Hyundai Elexio has it all
As for its powertrain, there will be two versions available: one with front-wheel drive and one with all-wheel drive. The most affordable variant will feature a 215-horsepower engine, while the all-wheel drive configuration will add a second motor on the rear axle for a combined power output of 312 horsepower.
The entry-level variant will offer a 215-hp electric motor, while the all-wheel drive option will include a second motor on the rear axle, bringing the combined power to 312 hp.
This system will be powered by a BYD-made battery, with a homologated range of up to 700 kilometers under the Chinese CLTC cycle.
Although this figure could be reduced under stricter regulations such as the European WLTP, it is still a notable mark that puts the Elexio in direct competition with electric SUVs from premium brands.
For now, Hyundai has not confirmed whether the Elexio will come to Europe, but the door is not closed. Other brands have already followed the path of presenting vehicles initially designed for China and then adapting them to other markets. And Hyundai itself has stated that it is considering expanding its global electric offering.
This new interior, completely groundbreaking with respect to what has already been seen in Hyundai, could be key in future electric vehicles that are presented directly for Europe, since it completely changes with respect to the current concept.
As for prices, there are still no definitive official figures for the international market, but according to local sources, the entry price in China could be around $33,000 dollars, while the all-wheel drive version could climb to approximately $38,000 dollars, figures that position it as a competitive option within its segment.
What is clear is that Hyundai is betting heavily on redefining the user experience inside its vehicles. The Elexio is not just another electric car, it is also a statement of intent about the future of the brand in an increasingly demanding market.
On a visual level,The Elexio's exterior had previously been revealed. Its design blends clean lines, aerodynamic details, and a distinct personality compared to models like the IONIQ 5 or IONIQ 6. Its exterior appearance is also quite distinctive and different from what the Korean firm has offered on other models.
