Ford prepares a $30,000 electric pickup
Ford's future electric pickup promises a price close to $30,000 and seeks to become a practical and accessible alternative
Ford knows that the growth of electric vehicles depends on more than just offering cutting-edge technology. For many buyers, the real challenge remains finding a model that is reasonably priced and also useful for everyday use.

Although it has not yet been officially presented nor is there confirmation about the use of the Ranchero name, there are more and more indications that Ford is working on an electric pickup similar in size to the Maverick. Its main attraction would be a price close to $30,000, an unusual figure within the electric vehicle segment.
A van designed to reach more people
The new pickup would be part of a strategy with which Ford seeks to expand its offering of electric models without increasing manufacturing costs. Production would begin in 2027 at the Kentucky plant and its arrival on the market is projected as a 2028 model.
The images of some camouflaged prototypes reveal a compact vehicle, with lines focused on improving aerodynamic efficiency and a cabin where a large central screen accompanied by new driving assistance systems would stand out.
The idea is to offer a more practical alternative for those who do not need a large truck, but do value a cargo box to transport tools, bicycles, sports equipment or any everyday object.
The platform will be one of its greatest strengths
One of the pillars of the project is the new Universal EV architecture, developed to reduce costs and simplify the manufacturing process.
Ford ensures that this platform uses fewer components and a simpler structure, allowing interior space to be optimized without increasing exterior dimensions. In fact, the brand maintains that the cabin would offer even more space than some compact SUVs that are widely accepted on the market.
It is also expected to incorporate LFP technology batteries, a solution that would help keep the final price of the vehicle under control, although for now no official figures on autonomy or energy capacity are known.
The price will be your biggest argument
One of the great challenges for the industry continues to be convincing more people to make the leap towards an electric vehicle. In the United States there are still few options that are around $30,000, especially after changes in some incentives for purchasing this type of car.
If Ford manages to maintain that launch value, the future pickup could become one of the most interesting proposals for those looking for a functional electric vehicle without investing the money required for a larger truck.
Of course, there are still questions to be resolved. It remains to be known the final price with the different equipment levels and to check if the brand manages to meet expectations in a business where electric sales still represent a challenge.
Still, expectations are high. If the project maintains the balance between practicality, cost and technology that has characterized the Maverick, this future electric pickup would have enough arguments to become one of Ford's most important launches in the coming years.
