MagSafe batteries recalled after being linked to fires and burns
According to reports from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, several cases of burns have been recorded so far.
According to a statement from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American consumers were told about the recall of approximately 1,400 MagSafe battery chargers due to the risk of burns and fires.
According to the regulator, “the lithium-ion battery in the recalled portable chargers can overheat and catch fire, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire and burns.”
In the statement, the CPSC stated that so far there have been reported cases of fires and burn injuries after the use of these portable batteries; Among the registered cases there are users with burns on their hands and arms and others with minor material damage.
The commission also explained what the proper removal of this type of device should be: "Do not dispose of this external lithium-ion battery in the trash, in the general recycling system, or in the used battery recycling bins found in various retail and home improvement stores. Recalled lithium-ion batteries should be disposed of differently than other batteries, as they present a greater risk of fire."
For its part, the Flaunt brand detailed that the recalled batteries were sold online at flauntcases.com under the model number E33A, in the colors melon, black, lavender and white and the word “FLAUNT” engraved on the front right side of the external battery with a small circular button on the front, between 2024 and 2025, with prices reaching $65.
Therefore, it recommends that consumers not only stop using the item, but also contact the brand to obtain their respective refund.
