Social Security: When will retirees start charging in August?
The next Social Security check for retirees will be on August 13 for those born between the 1st and 10th of any month
The Social Security Administration (SSA) publishes a monthly payment schedule so that both retirees and those insured by other social programs know what day will receive their money.
In the case of retirees, there are several dates. The first to receive their checks are those who retired before May 1997; generally, these beneficiaries receive their money on the first day of each month.
However, retirees who retired after May 1997 receive their money in three rounds depending on their date of birth. For those born between the 1st and 10th of any month, they are due to receive their check on August 13th.
Retirees born between the 11th and 20th of any month receive their money on August 20th, and those born between the 21st and 31st of any month will receive their check on August 27th.
The amounts depend on many factors, but mainly on the retirement age. Seniors who apply for retirement at age 62 lose 30% of their benefits, currently $2,000.
Retirees between ages 65 and 67 receive 100% of the benefit, equivalent to $3,000 currently, while those who delay their retirement age to 70 receive almost $5,000, more than 100% of the benefit.
