Cupra Tindaya: rebellion and nature in a unique concept
Cupra unveils the Tindaya, a concept that combines the Spanish brand's rebellious spirit with natural inspiration and sustainability
Cupra has raised the bar for innovation with its new Tindaya concept, presented at the IAA Mobility in Munich. Inspired by the sacred mountain of Fuerteventura, the Tindaya is a car that fuses Cupra's boldness with natural and sustainable elements.

Its design evokes the geography of the Canary Islands and the constant movement of the Atlantic Ocean, while promising a human and exciting driving experience.

The name of the concept, Tindaya, comes from the mountain of the same name, an emblematic place for its relationship with nature and Aboriginal culture. Under the direction of Jorge Diez, Cupra's designers transferred that essence to the aesthetics of the vehicle, using warm tones and organic shapes that suggest fluidity and dynamism. “We wanted something totally different,” says Diez, highlighting how the Tindaya’s interior and exterior are conceived as a whole that redefines the car’s silhouette.
With sales exceeding 216,000 units so far this year – a 36% increase over the previous year – Cupra is strengthening its global position, expanding into new markets such as the Middle East, while maintaining its philosophy: “Without drivers, there is no Cupra.”
Exterior design: boldness and fluidity
The Tindaya combines boldness and elegance in every line. Its front end, described by the designers as “messy, but beautiful,” incorporates sharp headlights and an integrated digital display under a black strip. The triangular indicators are repeated in the taillights, while the illuminated logo adds a futuristic touch.
The most distinctive feature is the 3D-printed aluminum central spine, which runs along the roof and allows for a radical opening. This structure, which creates a fastback silhouette, symbolizes the backbone of the concept and reinforces the continuity between the interior and exterior design.
At the Munich Motor Show, the Tindaya was presented as a work of automotive art,Breaking with the conventions of traditional SUVs.
Interior and Driving Experience
The cabin adopts a 2+2 configuration, prioritizing interaction between driver and vehicle. The yoke-style steering wheel integrates video game-inspired controls, while the large central screen dominates the dashboard. The star element, “The Jewel,” orchestrates lights, sounds, and digital visuals, creating an immersive experience that reflects Cupra's philosophy of keeping the driver at the center.
Markus Haupt, Cupra's interim CEO, comments: “We cannot conceive of a world without them, because we would lose the emotion, passion, and rebellion.” This concept underlines the brand's commitment to humane and passionate driving, as opposed to the total autonomy that dominates much of the industry.
Sustainability and Innovative Materials
Environmental responsibility is a pillar of the Tindaya. The seats are made with eco-friendly materials, while the Tribe editions incorporate 3D printing, bio-based paints, and tires made with 20% recycled material.
Every detail seeks to minimize environmental impact without sacrificing style or performance.
Sven Schuwirth, vice president of sales and marketing, notes: “The brand’s global expansion is based on partnerships that prioritize responsible innovation.” Cupra proves that rebellion can be green, showing that bold design and sustainability can coexist in the same vehicle.
From concept to possible future models
Although the Tindaya is a concept, its influence can be seen in future models of the brand, such as the camouflaged Raval from the Electric Urban Car family.
The Spanish brand has not provided details about the powertrain, but the focus on design, sustainability and driving experience positions Cupra as a global player with ambitions to consolidate its unique style in international markets.
For now, there is no confirmation about its arrival in the United States, but the sustained growth of the brand suggests that the Tindaya could be a catalyst for new adventures.
