A stray bullet went through a window and killed a 14-year-old boy playing video games in Missouri
Duwan Morgan, 14, was struck by a bullet that went through his bedroom window in St. Louis. Police are searching for those responsible for the shooting.
A 14-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a stray bullet while playing video games inside his home in St. Louis County, Missouri, authorities reported.
The incident occurred on October 8, at approximately 6:10 pm when police responded to a report of gunfire and found Duwan Morgan, a teenager with a gunshot wound. Officers confirmed he died at the scene from his injuries.
According to his family, the bullet went through his bedroom window. His mother, who was home, ran upstairs when she heard the gunshots and found him dying.
“The boy died in his mother's arms,” his aunt, Erica Davis, told ABC News.
A “senseless shooting” that took a family apart
County police said one or more unknown individuals opened fire in the area, and that the teenager was struck by one of the bullets.
So far, no one has been arrested and authorities are maintaining an active investigation.
Duwan's family described his death as a “senseless shooting” that has left “an indescribable void” in their lives.
“He was a vibrant, caring young man with a bright future ahead of him,” they said on a GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral expenses.
His aunt said the teen dreamed of studying music and going into radio or podcasting, and that his mother is devastated. "She barely eats. She cries every night. It's a nightmare," Davis said. “Nothing is worth taking someone's life.”
Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call 636-529-8210, and said they will release more details when they become available.
