Authorities confirmed that two little brothers missing in Utah, Will Richman, one year old, and Wesley Richman, an infant, were found safe and sound in San Felipe, Mexico, along with their father, who was arrested after an intense international search began after he breached a custody agreement.

The children had been reported missing after their father, Dane Stephen Richman, 46, failed to show up for a scheduled custody exchange in Saratoga Springs over the weekend.

The FBI office in Salt Lake City confirmed the discovery of the children and noted that the Amber Alert was canceled after their location.

The father was arrested and faces charges

According to Saratoga Springs Police, Richman was arrested and charged with two counts of custodial interference.

Authorities said that during the investigation, they traced data from the man's cell phone to San Diego, near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Later, they obtained evidence that indicated that he had crossed into Mexican territory with the children.

The children's mother, Lizzie Tomich, reported on social media that she began to worry when Richman stopped responding to messages and did not go to the agreed upon point to hand over the children.

Tomich explained that both parents shared alternating weeks of temporary custody, but the children had not been seen since May 16.

He also claimed that he discovered that Richman had fired his lawyer and left his home shortly before he disappeared.

When police came to conduct a welfare check at the residence, they found the house virtually empty and evidence that several belongings had been removed.

Authorities expressed concern about the father's emotional state

Police had previously warned that the minors could be in “imminent danger,” citing concerns about the father's mental health and financial situation.

Court documents noted that Richman was in the midst of a custody dispute with Tomich and had recently resigned from his job due to legal conflicts related to the case.

The family's lawyer, Brittany Skinner, stated that the man would have sold most of his belongings before disappearing with the minors.

Public records cited by local media indicate that Richman had a prior legal record, including arrests for robbery, theft and other crimes.

The authorities continue to investigate the case while judicial procedures related to the custody and international transfer of the minors progress.
