Hispanic man detained in Texas for possession of child pornography after alert of Google
A Google alert about the downloading of child pornography allowed authorities to track down and arrest the suspect
Javier Jose Barrientos Turcios, 28 years old and of Salvadoran origin, was arrested in Texas after multiple child pornography videos were detected on his cell phone. The defendant admitted to having at least 20 files in his possession and admitted to being addicted to this type of material.
According to court documents, a Google alert about the downloading of child pornography allowed authorities to track down and arrest the suspect.
The report, reported by Telemundo, states that Barrientos Turcios stored videos of minors between the ages of 8 and 11 being sexually abused by adults on his phone.
During the investigation, the defendant's wife told agents that she had seen this type of material on her partner's cell phone.
During interrogations, Barrientos Turcios admitted to having at least 20 videos in his possession and admitted to being addicted to this illicit content.
The man faces a criminal charge for possession of child pornography, according to the Prosecutor's Office. In addition, he has an outstanding immigration violation, which could further complicate his legal status in the United States.
