Indiana woman tried to kill baby by sitting on his face: “She wanted to sacrifice him”
Authorities arrested 37-year-old Kendra Lee Proctor after police responding to a 911 call about a suspected case of child abuse
A 37-year-old woman was arrested in Indiana and faces charges of attempted murder and child sexual abuse after allegedly trying to suffocate a one-year-old boy and arrested she wanted to “sacrifice him,” according to court documents.
Authorities Kendra Lee Proctor, 37, who had previously been charged with attempted murder and sexual abuse of a 14-year-old child, was arrested after police responded to a 911 call about a suspected case of child abuse. According to police reports cited by local media, officers responded to a home in the 3500 block of Baltimore Avenue in Indianapolis around 10:30 pm on Sunday, January 18, where they found Proctor, an adult witness, and the one-year-old child. "I wanted to sacrifice him," she told authorities. According to the adult witness, she found Proctor sitting on the child's face. The child was naked from the waist down and screaming desperately. The woman explained that moments earlier they had both watched a religious-themed movie, after which Proctor began behaving strangely and asking unusual questions. Upon discovering the scene, the witness physically intervened to pull Proctor away from the child. Emergency medical personnel later evaluated the child and determined that he had no visible physical injuries. During interviews with police, Proctor reportedly stated that she thought "that was what I was supposed to do" and later admitted to attempting to kill the child, indicating that she hoped the adult witness would kill her afterwards. Investigation and Legal Status: Authorities noted that Proctor made explicit statements about her intention to "sacrifice" the child and that, when questioned further, she was unable to provide coherent answers. Investigators indicated that the woman may suffer from schizophrenia, although the diagnosis has not been officially confirmed.
Proctor was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she remains detained without bail while the investigation continues.
