A judge this Friday declared a mistrial against the suspect accused of causing the Palisades fire in January 2025 in Los Angeles, after a day earlier the jurors said they could not reach a unanimous verdict.
On June 25, the jury said it was at a crossroads after its deliberations in the trial of Jonathan Rinderknecht, 29, had failed to reach a unanimous opinion to find the defendant guilty or not guilty of the charges.
Rinderknecht was charged with three federal counts: arson, malicious destruction by fire and burning wood.
