The man was booked into the Southwestern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Friday night.
The body was found on the porch of the house.
The victim was identified as Christina Hunt, according to regional station WOWK-TV.
The discovery occurred around 10 am Friday when a neighbor asked Mingo County Sheriff's Office to check a home on Triton Lane, north of Delbarton.
Before entering the residence, they were found a woman's body covered with a blanket on the front porch, according to investigators.
According to a statement cited by local news outlet Mingo Messenger, Leroy Hunt allegedly shot his wife as she entered the house.

Because of this, the accused also faces charges related to endangering the child's safety.
Confrontation with police before the arrest
After the discovery of the body, officers faced a tense confrontation with the suspect at the residence.
After some time, Hunt finally surrendered to authorities and was arrested.
