Cardi B was sued by the fan at whom she threw a microphone two years ago
The American rapper was accused of assault and negligence by a fan whom she injured by throwing at her during a performance in Las Vegas
Cardi B faces a civil lawsuit filed by a fan, legally known as Jane Doe, following an incident that occurred in July 2023 during a concert at Drai's Beachclub in Las Vegas.
At that moment, during the performance, Cardi B asked her fans to throw water on her to cool off due to the high temperatures. When the fan complied with the request and threw liquid towards the stage, the singer reacted angrily and threw her microphone directly into the crowd, allegedly hitting the plaintiff in the face. The controversial moment was captured by several attendees and quickly went viral on social media. The fan accused Cardi B of assault, negligence and is seeking compensation for physical injuries, emotional distress and psychological damages. In her complaint, the fan argues that the incident exacerbated her psychological distress, especially after seeing that the microphone was later auctioned for nearly $100,000, which exacerbated her sense of public humiliation.
Las Vegas authorities launched an investigation in 2023, though no criminal charges were filed against the artist at the time. However, the civil lawsuit persists, and the fan is now seeking financial compensation for damages.
So far, neither Cardi B nor her representatives have made any public statements regarding the lawsuit.
