Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde visits Srinagar to support and evacuate state tourists affected by the Pahalgam terror attack, ensuring their safe return.
In the aftermath of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, took swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of the state’s residents caught in the turmoil. The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including five from Maharashtra, left many tourists stranded and in distress.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Shinde promptly traveled to Srinagar to personally oversee the rescue operations. Upon arrival, he met with the affected tourists, offering them solace and assuring them of the government’s unwavering support. His presence provided much-needed comfort to those grappling with the trauma of the incident.
“I am here not just as the Deputy Chief Minister, but as a fellow citizen concerned for the safety of our people,” Shinde expressed during his visit. “Our priority is to bring everyone back home safely and ensure they receive the care they need.”
To facilitate the evacuation, Shinde coordinated with Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to arrange special flights dedicated to transporting the stranded tourists back to Maharashtra. These efforts culminated in the successful return of approximately 182 individuals, who were greeted with relief and gratitude upon their arrival.
In addition to the logistical support, the Maharashtra government announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased. This gesture aimed to provide some financial relief to those who lost their loved ones in the heinous attack.
The Pahalgam terror attack has not only shaken the nation but also highlighted the importance of prompt and compassionate governance. Shinde’s proactive approach serves as a testament to the state’s commitment to its citizens, ensuring that even in the face of adversity, no one is left behind.
