Ranchi: Hearing was held in Jharkhand High Court yesterday regarding the matter giving benefit of reservation in PT examination of Assistant Engineer. In which the court has strongly reprimanded JPSC. After which the commission has postponed the paper verification and interview. The commission said that the candidates invited for document verification and interview will be informed about the further action. Let us inform that this interview was to run from 30 May 2022 to 12 June 2022.

Earlier in the hearing held yesterday, JPSC said in the High Court that the benefit of reservation in PT was given by mistake in the Assistant Engineer Competitive Examination. Affidavit said: Process was done by mistake: JPSC has told in para-21 of its affidavit that the reserved-unreserved category candidates who have got equal or more marks, they have been selected in the unreserved category.

This process is done by mistake. On this the High Court expressed displeasure and said that JPSC is making mistake on mistake. When will it get better? The future of the candidates is being played with. How will he rectify his mistake When JPSC realized its mistake, why was the main exam taken instead of rectifying it. The hearing was held in the court of Justice Rajesh Shankar in the matter of giving the benefit of reservation in the PT of the Joint Assistant Engineer Competition.

The court also talked about calling the JPSC president. However, the court did not insist on the request of JPSC advocate Sanjay Piprawal. The court has asked the JPSC to file an affidavit within 24 hours (by June 7) to explain how the mistakes will be rectified. The next hearing will be on June 8.

Earlier, advocate Sanjay Piprawal, on behalf of JPSC, filed an affidavit and told the court that the result of the main examination is out. Interview is going on now. On the other hand, advocate Amritansh Vats, appearing for the applicant, opposed the argument of JPSC and said that there is no provision to give the benefit of reservation in PT. Even after this, its benefit has been given. Now even JPSC has accepted the matter of giving reservation in PT and has accepted its mistake.

The date of next hearing in the case has been fixed for June 8.

The High Court further said that JPSC had issued a release stating that the result of the main examination would be held in June and the interview in July. The matter is also pending in the High Court. In such a situation why interview is being conducted after releasing the result before the scheduled schedule? Why did JPSC get in such a hurry?

The interview in the commission was to be held from 30 May 2022 to 12 June 2022. The examination of papers of 1281 candidates successful in the main examination in the commission was scheduled from 29 May 2022 and interview was scheduled from 30 May 2022. In total 1281, 1056 candidates were selected for 542 posts in Civil Engineer and 225 candidates were selected for 95 posts in Mechanical Engineer in the main examination.

According to the rules, two and a half times the candidates have to be selected according to the post in this appointment. This recruitment process in the commission is going on since 2019. In Civil Services, there are 228 posts in Road Construction Department, 288 posts in Water Resources Department and 26 posts in Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, while Mechanical Services includes 84 posts in Water Resources Department and 11 posts in Drinking Water and Sanitation Department.
