Karnataka Strengthens Internal Security Measures Amid Rising Misinformation Concerns
Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara emphasizes the state’s preparedness for potential security challenges, addressing misinformation and ensuring public safety.
In a proactive move to bolster the state’s internal security, Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara announced a high-level meeting convened by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The meeting aims to assess the state’s preparedness in light of potential security challenges and the spread of misinformation on social media platforms.
Comprehensive Review of Internal Security
Addressing the media, Dr. Parameshwara stated, “The Chief Minister has called a meeting to take stock of internal security. We will evaluate the advisories issued by the Indian government. The CM will evaluate what steps we have to take and our preparedness for the eventuality of a war-like situation.”
He emphasized that certain measures have already been initiated to enhance civil defense mechanisms. “Some steps have been initiated for civil defense. We are also going to take stock of law and order and essential commodities in the face of an eventuality,” he added.
Combating Misinformation on Social Media
Dr. Parameshwara expressed concern over the dissemination of false information aimed at destabilizing the state’s peace. “Some people are trying to instigate the situation by posting false information. So I have called a meeting of our IT and BT department. Priyank Kharge and our Internal Security Department will also attend the meeting,” he noted.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring that citizens receive accurate information during critical times.
Ensuring Availability of Essential Commodities
In anticipation of potential disruptions, the state government is taking steps to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.
