There has been a sudden increase in cases of seduction of girls by youths of a particular community. In just five months this year, 48 such cases have been registered in the state. While 76 cases were registered in the last whole year. According to this, the average of every month this year is around 10. Most of the cases are related to kidnapping of minor girls. In these, action has also been taken against the accused under POCSO.

In this matter, the Chief Minister has instructed the police officers and intelligence officers to closely monitor the situation. Due to sudden increase in such cases, maintaining law and order in the state is also a challenge. In the past, some organizations in Uttarkashi had also talked about calling a mahapanchayat.

Police figures are also telling this situation. These cases are mostly registered in kidnapping and POCSO. According to the sources, due to the activities done on social media in the past, people are becoming aware and coming forward in such matters. Police is also taking action on them. In these five months, almost all the accused have been arrested. At the same time, police officers have instructed LIU to monitor every situation.
