She told through tweet that she will file her nomination for the post of Vice President of India on Tuesday. "There is no doubt that it will be a difficult election, but I am not afraid of any challenge," he said. I thank the leaders of all the opposition parties for supporting my candidature.

Earlier, leaders of several opposition parties held a meeting on Monday to decide their strategy regarding Alva. Margaret Alva also attended the meeting held at the residence of Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Alva said, "I was invited to meet all the leaders who are supporting me in the election for the post of Vice President. So we all met, I thank everyone for putting their faith in me.

Alva further said, I know that it is a difficult fight, but in politics victory or defeat is not an issue, the issue is the fight. After the meeting, Pawar tweeted, "A meeting of leaders of opposition parties was held at my New Delhi residence to discuss the election of the Vice President. Alva will file her nomination on Tuesday and many opposition leaders will be present on the occasion.

Opposition parties have fielded senior Congress leader Margaret Alva as their joint candidate for the vice presidential election. He is facing the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar. Voting for the Vice Presidential election will be held on August 6. The last date for filing nominations is July 19.

Senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Jairam Ramesh, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI general secretary D Raja, DMK leader Kanimozhi, Samajwadi Party's Ram Gopal Yadav and several other opposition leaders were present at the meeting held at Pawar's residence.
