The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has once again cracked down on the banned organization People's Front of India (PFI). Simultaneous raids were conducted at 56 locations in Kerala in the early hours today.

According to NIA officials, this action is being taken in view of the efforts to revive the organization with a new name. Let me tell you, this fundamentalist organization of Kerala origin had established its roots across the country. In view of its illegal activities, the Central Government had banned it in September.

Raids have been conducted at eight locations linked to PFI leaders in Ernakulam. At the same time, investigation is going on at six premises in Thiruvananthapuram. This operation was started simultaneously at 4 am on Thursday. The NIA raid was going on till the news was written. It is noteworthy that PFI was formed in 2006 in Kerala itself. After this, it also formed a political organization 'Social Democratic Party of India' in 2009. 

A hartal was also observed in Kerala against the ban on the organization by the Centre. During this there was widespread violence in the state. The Kerala High Court took suo moto cognizance of the violence and directed the Left Front government of Kerala to compensate the accused and officials for the damage caused to public property during the strike.
