The Supreme Court pulled up the Defense Ministry on the issue of payment of arrears of One Rank-One Pension to all eligible pensioners of the armed forces. The court said that the sanctity of the judicial process has to be maintained. The petition has been filed by the Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IEMM). A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha and Justice JB Pardiwala heard the petition.

A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Monday on petitions demanding payment of arrears of One Rank-One Pension (OROP) scheme in a single installment instead of four. A group of ex-servicemen who filed the petition had sought direction from the apex court to the central government in this regard. The petition has also demanded cancellation of the Centre's communication dated January 20, 2023, issued by the Ministry of Defence.
