The debate between the government and the opposition is going on outside and inside the Parliament to discuss the ongoing violence in Manipur. Due to this, the Speaker had to adjourn the proceedings of the Parliament for the third consecutive day. The opposition alliance 'Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance' (India) continued to protest in the Parliament premises throughout the night on Monday.
Still performing
Let me tell you, there was a lot of ruckus in the Manipur issue in Parliament on Monday, where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh was suspended for the current session, while Trinamool MP Derek O'Brien and Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar had a heated argument. At the same time, the opposition is demanding the Prime Minister to make a statement on Manipur in the House.
India's protest started in the night
Regarding all this, on Monday night at 11 o'clock, the MPs of the opposition alliance India gathered in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament House and started the protest. AAP and Congress MPs were seen protesting with 'India for Manipur' placards. This demonstration will continue on Tuesday as well.
This is preparation
According to media reports, the parties have prepared a complete blueprint for their leaders to be present at the dharna site in turn. It was decided that which leaders would join the dharna at different times. A leader says that there is complete unity among the opposition parties. It is against the suspension of Sanjay Singh. Along with this, demonstrations are also being held to demand that Prime Minister Modi should make a statement on the subject of Manipur inside the Parliament.
Will not comment on the Chairman: Sanjay Singh
AAP MP Sanjay Singh participated in the protest on Tuesday. During this, he told reporters that why is the Prime Minister silent on a sensitive issue like Manipur? We are only demanding him to come to Parliament and speak on this issue. He further said that I will not comment on Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to suspend me as he is not a political person, he is the Vice President. It is our responsibility to raise the issue of Manipur in Parliament.
President's rule should be imposed: Raghav Chadha
At the same time, AAP MP Raghav Chadha said that the only demand of the opposition parties is to discuss the Manipur issue. He said that it is sad that the issue is being discussed internationally but not in India. Manipur CM N Biren Singh should be removed and President's rule should be imposed in the state. AAP is going to raise the issue of Manipur across the country.
Our demands will continue: JB Mather
Rajya Sabha MP JB Mather said that we want to give the biggest message. Sanjay Singh is not alone. The entire opposition is together. If the ruling party, NDA and government think that they can threaten us by suspending one of our MPs. We want to say again and again that our demands will continue. The Prime Minister should come to Parliament and make a statement about Manipur. After that there should be a detailed discussion.
Government and opposition are accusing each other
Opposition parties are demanding a long discussion on the Manipur issue. For this, many opposition MPs had given adjournment notice. The opposition wants a debate on the issue without any time limit allowing all parties to speak. Regarding this, since the commencement of the monsoon session on Thursday, the opposition has been continuously protesting on this issue. On the other hand, the government has accused the opposition of running away from the debate on this important issue and questioned their seriousness towards it. The opposition has also hit back and accused the government of running away from the debate.
Kharge's attack on PM
Before the protest began, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that the government was insensitive. He had said that the PM should come to the House and give a statement. This is our demand. We are ready to discuss that statement. You are speaking outside, but not inside. This is an insult to the Parliament. This is a serious matter.
Party's attack on the opposition
On the other hand, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi accused the opposition leaders of running away from debate and also questioned their silence on the issues of violence against women in other states. Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel said that the opposition should not make excuses. The Prime Minister has given a statement on Manipur with sensitivity and firmness even before the monsoon session. It is wrong that we did not start the discussion on the Manipur issue in the Parliament using the name of the Prime Minister as an excuse.
