Sheinbaum confirms that Rubén Rocha, accused by the US of drug trafficking, is still in the state of Sinaloa
The Mexican president responded to the rumors that signal that the governor on license of Sinaloa left the state
The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, confirmed this Monday that the governor of Sinaloa (northwest), Rubén Rocha Moya, who temporarily removed from office, remains in that Mexican state in the middle of the accusation of the United States against him for allegedly collaborating with the Sinaloa Cartel in exchange for bribes and political favors.
“Tomorrow the Secretary of Security can inform him, but he (Rubén Rocha) is in Sinaloa,” the president stressed in her daily press conference from Mexico City.
Sheinbaum criticized that there are “many lies” in social networks in this case, for which he highlighted the “importance” of information in the face of “propaganda”, amid rumors that the official could no longer be in his homestate.
In this way, he insisted that the governor is in Sinaloa, something that the federal Security secretary, Omar García Harfuch, had already stated last week.
The U.S. Department of Justice accused ten state officials, including the governor, of collaborating with the Chapitos faction. of the Sinaloa Cartel and for allowing the transfer of drugs to the US in exchange for bribes, which is why they requested their urgent arrest to be extradited.
Rocha Moya, of the official National Regeneration Movement (Morena) requested last week leave to temporarily separate from position while the General Attorney's Office investigates the case
The Government of Mexico responded that said request does not correspond to an ordinary extradition procedure and that, so far, it does not have sufficient elements that justify its urgent nature.
All those involved have rejected the accusations, in a case that has generated a strong political controversy in Mexico and tensions in the bilateral relationship with the United States.
Sheinbaum insisted that the relationship with Washington must be kept under four principles: respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, shared and differentiated responsibility, mutual respect and mutual trust.
The president also rejected any interference or intervention, “except in political matters”, although affirmed that the communication, collaboration and coordination with the United States continue. EFE
