The Mexican Isaac del Toro (UAE) has put in a new performance to win the Giro del Veneto, contested between Vicenza and Verona and 161.2 kilometers of route, and add his sixteenth victory of the season.

Del Toro was once again full of energy and unstoppable for his rivals, whom he left on the final climb despite attempts to follow him from Frenchman Romain Gregoire and set off for the finish line with 10.7 kilometers to go to win in a time of 3h24:29.

The Mexican was 22 seconds ahead of the chasing group led to the finish line by his teammate Pavel Sivakov, ahead of Norwegian Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) and Uruguayan Eric Antonio Fagundez (Burgos Burpellet BH).

This result kept the Mexican cyclist as the rider with the second most victories in the season, only behind his teammate, Tadej Pogacar, who has 19 triumphs.

The best Latin American cyclist of the moment

At 22 years old, “Torito” already appears this week as the third best cyclist in the world, according to the update published by ProCyclingStats and supported by the UCI. The UAE Team Emirates rider has accumulated 5,314 points, only behind Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, the absolute leader with 11,680 points, and Dane Jonas Vingegaard, second with 5,944.

The UCI classification, which is updated every 8 days, evaluates the performance of more than two thousand cyclists worldwide, so reaching third place is a great achievement for the Mexican.
