Hispana mother was cited by the ICE and arrives with two soldiers of the National Guard: they were her children
An ICE office in Chicago summoned a Hispanic mother via text message, but she showed up with her two military children
A curious situation occurred recently at the offices of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) in Chicago. A Hispanic mother who was summoned to appear arrived accompanied by two National Guard soldiers, and surprisingly, they were her children.
According to a report by Noticias Telemundo, the young soldiers came with two objectives: to accompany their mother, who has lived in the United States for 20 years, and to allow the uniform to speak for themselves.
Despite having a work permit, the Hispanic woman had received the summons from ICE via text message, a fact that worried her and her children, who decided to accompany her to the office.
The report indicated that they feared a possible deportation, due to the harsh immigration policies that President Donald Trump has implemented since his second arrival at the White House. However, the Hispanic woman was safely released from ICE.
A Salvadoran mother faced a different fate: she was deported
The case of Yessena Ruano, a Salvadoran mother who has lived in the United States for 14 years, has moved the Latino community in Milwaukee: her visa was denied, and she decided to return to her country.
The mother of two applied for a visa as a victim of human trafficking, which was declined. Faced with this situation, Ruano opted for self-deportation, an option that the federal government has repeatedly offered to undocumented immigrants.
In a similar situation, but in Florida, ICE deported a pastor's wife.
In a matter of days, María Isidro, a nanny and wife of a preacher, went from being with her family in Live Oak to being deported by ICE to Matamoros, Mexico. The woman first came to the United States in 1998 to seek medical care for one of her children, according to multiple news reports.
Although she was once subject to a deportation order,This was repeatedly suspended at the discretion of government officials while he sought legal immigration status to remain in the country.
Trump confirms ICE will focus on sanctuary cities
This week, President Donald Trump confirmed that ICE agents will focus on so-called sanctuary cities to detain undocumented immigrants, claiming that most of these people are “criminals.”
“I want [the agents] to focus on the cities, because that’s where the so-called sanctuary cities are, and that’s where the people [undocumented immigrants] live,” Trump said from Canada, where he participated in the G7 Summit.
“I see New York, I see Chicago, I mean, Chicago has a really bad governor and mayor, but the governor is probably the worst in the country, [JB] Pritzker, but I see how that city has been invaded by criminals,” he added.
