Minneapolis police respond to a shooting at a Catholic school
A shooter stormed a Catholic school in Minneapolis and began shooting at people inside.
Minneapolis police responded to a call requesting assistance from Annunciation School on the south side of the city, where a shooter began shooting at several people while they were attending Mass.
“I have been made aware of a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and will continue to provide updates as we have more information. The BCA and the State Patrol are are at the scene.
My prayers are for our children and teachers, whose first week of school has been marred by this horrific act of violence,” wrote Tim Walz, governor of Minnesota, in a message posted on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.
It should be noted that the Catholic school where the incident occurred serves children from preschool through eighth grade and a mass was scheduled to be held this Wednesday to commemorate the return to school.
Without determining an exact number of victims, information was leaked indicating that the shooter allegedly injured several people.
Through a brief message on their social networks, the authorities of the city of Minneapolis announced that the person responsible for the attack had already been arrested.
“The shooter is contained. Stay away from the area so that emergency personnel can assist the victims: West 54th Street, between Lyndale and Nicollet Avenue,” the text indicates.
“I have received a full briefing on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI responded quickly and is on scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for all involved!” he wrote on the Truth Social platform.
Minutes later, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara confirmed that two children were killed and 14 others, as well as three adults, were injured as a result of the attack.
“During the mass,A gunman approached from the outside, around the side of the building, and began firing a rifle through the church windows at children sitting in the pews during Mass. The shooter was armed with a shotgun, a rifle, and a handgun,” he said.
