America's Joe Biden government imposed visa restrictions on four Russian citizens on Thursday. These four people were involved in poisoning Russia's opposition leader Alexi Navalny in the year 2020. The four accused are Alexey Alexandrov, Konstantin Kudryavstev, Ivan Osipov and Vladimir Panayev.

The US government has banned these four Russian citizens under the Global Magnisky Act. The Act bans those who commit murder, torture or other human rights violations in extra-judicial custody or act as agents of those who commit violations. Let us inform that these four Russian citizens have been banned in the year 2021 also by a different authority.

Due to the American ban, now these four accused and their family members will not be able to enter America. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that 'today's action is proof that violations of international human rights have a price to pay. America will continue to hold the accused accountable for such crimes. Kudryavstev, accused of poisoning Alexei Navalny, was also involved in monitoring another Russian opposition leader, Vladimir Kara Murza. Vladimir Kara Murza is also currently lodged in a Russian jail.

Let us inform that Alexi Navalny is the opposition leader of Russia and is considered critical of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In August 2020, Navalny was going on a flight from the Siberian city of Tomsk to Moscow. He was poisoned during the flight itself, which worsened his condition. Due to ill health, he was taken to Berlin, Germany for treatment, where Navalny returned to Russia again in January 2021 after improving his health and has been in jail since then.
