Several water parks in California reopen in May, waiting for summer, and one of them is considered the favorite for this 2026
The start of the summer season annually means something very fun for Californians: the reopening of the parks aquatics with their multiple attractions. But the best thing is that nobody has to wait until June, because this month they begin to operate.
These family resorts offer slides, wave pools and recreational areas, for both children and adults.
The opening dates have been confirmed by the official websites of each park, and some of them are considered among the most popular in the entire state.

The water parks that open in May in California
One of the first to open will be Knott’s Soak City, located in Buena Park. The park will begin operations on May 16 and is known for its large slides and family areas.
That same day will also open Wild Rivers, which will operate from 10:30 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon. This resort is a favorite for those looking for intense water activities and rest areas.
As of May 23, other important parks in southern California will be added. Among them, The Wave Waterpark stands out, which will open from noon to 4:00 in the afternoon.
Likewise, it is expected that The Cove Waterpark will be back in operation on that date, with variable hours between weekdays and Sundays.
And another of the complexes that will open that day will be Hansen Dam Aquatic Center, which will offer aquatic activities from 11:00 in the morning until 6:00 in the afternoon.
Among the most discussed reopenings also appears Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, which will start its season on May 23rd. The The park will operate between 10:30 in the morning and 6:00 in the afternoon and has numerous family-friendly and extreme attractions.
The parks that are already open and which is the best
While several resorts wait until the second half of May, others have already started their season. One of them is Raging Waters Los Angeles, which opened its doors since May 9th.
The park operates from 9:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon, although on some special dates it extends its hours.
Great Wolf Lodge Southern California is also operational, although currently only its indoor attractions are open. Outdoor activities still remain closed.
According to the specialized Kids Guide Magazine, the most attractive waterpark for kids in California during 2026 is Raging Waters Los Angeles.
It is considered the largest water park in the southern state and has more than 50 attractions for different ages, highlighting the Aqua Rocket, recognized as the only water hydromagnetic rollercoaster in the region.
