Metro Los Angeles approves extension of the K line to Hollywood
The 9.7-mile extension of the K line could serve 100,000 daily riders, according to the agency; construction could begin within 15 years
The Metro Los Angeles board of directors unanimously approved the project to extend the K light rail line between San Vicente and Hollywood this Thursday.
The plan considers extending the K line by approximately 9.7 miles (15.6 kilometers), to connect the Crenshaw/Expo line via Mid-City and the Fairfax district, then continuing through West Hollywood to the Hollywood Bowl area. According to transit officials, the extension could serve approximately 100,000 daily riders, connect 125,000 jobs within walking distance of stations, and serve more than 325,000 residents.
