Putin threatens to respond if Russia is attacked with Tomahawk
Russian President Vladimir Putin warned this Thursday of a decisive response if his country is attacked with US Tomahawk missiles, which Ukraine is requesting.
The president threatened a decisive response if Russian territory is attacked with US Tomahawk missiles, a type of weapon that Ukraine requests from Washington.
“If these types of weapons are used to attack Russian territory, our response will be forceful, not to say surprising,” he warned.
Regarding the latest sanctions imposed by the United States against two large Russian oil companies, Putin described the measure as “serious,” but ruled out a significant impact on the economy.
Vows to continue dialogue
“They will have consequences, but not a significant impact on our economic well-being,” the president said.
Putin described these restrictions as an “attempt to exert pressure,” but expressed confidence, stating that it is “impossible” to replace Russian hydrocarbons on the international market.
On the other hand, Putin promised to continue the “dialogue” after US President Donald Trump announced a postponement of the planned meeting between the two in Hungary to end the war in Ukraine.
“Dialogue is always a better alternative to confrontation, to disputes and especially war," Putin was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies.
