Report links Trump donor jet to ICE deportations
A luxurious Gulfstream transported immigrants from Arizona to Tel Aviv on at least two occasions between late January and early February
A private jet linked to real estate developer Gil Dezer, a donor and close associate of Donald Trump, was allegedly used in deportation flights coordinated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to an investigation published by The Guardian.
The report indicates that the aircraft, a luxurious Gulfstream that Dezer calls "my little rocket", He transported migrants from Arizona to Tel Aviv on at least two occasions between late January and early February. These movements were part of deportation operations considered politically sensitive because they involved Palestinian migrants in ICE custody. The connection came to light after the Israeli newspaper Haaretz published a photograph showing a deportee disembarking from a plane bearing the logo of Dezer Development, a real estate firm founded by Michael Dezer and currently run by his son Gil. According to the investigation, the flights were not chartered directly from the businessman. The jet was chartered by ICE through Journey Aviation, a Florida-based company that typically operates charter flights for US government agencies.
Dezer was unaware of the purpose of the flights
Human Rights First, an organization that monitors deportation operations, told the British media outlet that the same aircraft was involved in at least four deportation flights to Kenya, Liberia, Guinea, and Eswatini since October 2015, prior to the transfers to Israel.
When contacted by The Guardian, Dezer stated that he was unaware of the purpose of the flights and that he only receives notification about dates and logistics for the use of his aircraft.
For its part, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told The Independent that ICE does not directly contract with private aircraft owners nor investigate who owns the aircraft used by its suppliers. According to the agency, the transfers are managed through authorized companies.
From the State Department,A spokesperson defended the current immigration policy and stressed that the Trump administration continues to prioritize the accelerated deportation of undocumented immigrants, especially those with criminal records.
