Two Florida teenagers will be tried as adults for the murder of 14-year-old Danika Troy, which occurred in late November in the town of Pace, in the northwest of the state. The state prosecutor's office reported that Gabriel Williams, 16, and Kimahri Blevins, 14, were charged with first-degree premeditated murder. According to authorities, the youths lured the victim to a wooded trail, where they shot her multiple times before setting her body on fire. The crime has generated shock both because of the brutality of the act and the young age of those involved. The discovery of the body and the investigation: Danika Troy's mother reported her missing the morning after the incident. Two days later, a passerby found her badly burned body in a wooded area. Identification was made possible by the shoes she was wearing and an electric scooter found nearby. Investigators stated that the evidence quickly led to the suspects, who were arrested a few days later and remained in a juvenile detention center until their formal arraignment. Following the indictment, both were transferred to the Santa Rosa County Jail, where they were held without bail.

Social Media Dispute and Possible Premeditation

Although the motive for the crime has not yet been fully clarified, police maintain that the attack was planned after a conflict on social media that occurred weeks earlier. According to the investigation, the victim and the suspects knew each other previously and had some kind of relationship.

The teenager's mother stated that one of the accused had feigned romantic interest to convince her daughter to meet with them. "She just wanted to be in love," she stated in interviews with local media, while expressing her grief over the loss.
