Anne Hathaway reveals the intense process with which she prepares each character
The protagonist of "The Devil Wears Prada" shared that her acting process begins with intensive research prior to filming
In the midst of Anne Hathaway's box office success through the long-awaited film “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” the actress shared an unprecedented look at her preparation process for each character she brings to the screens.
It was during her time on the A24 podcast that the protagonist of “Mother Mary” spoke about the hard research work she does before arriving on a film set to start filming. According to the famous woman, it is essential for her to do a deep analysis of the script that includes complex questions and allows her to fully enter the story.
"I ask all possible questions. I analyze everything thoroughly. I find fault with everything. And I think, and I know for sure, that this has scared some. I do this because I am not going to ask a single question when we are on set," she said in the talk she held with David Lowery, who directed her in the aforementioned film.
In this sense, Anne Hathaway explained that the purpose of this method is to make the filming process simple and transfer the director's vision to the screen without errors.
"When we're on set, I want to be your first lieutenant. I want to carry out your vision. I want to get started as soon as possible and know exactly what we're doing and why. Then we won't have time for my questions," he continued.
For his part, filmmaker David Lowery agreed that the work process they carried out together on “Mother Mary” allowed there to be no creative differences.
Everything seems to indicate that this initiative by Anne Hathaway is more than successful, since throughout her career she has had the opportunity to collaborate with directors of the caliber of Tim Burton, Ang Lee and Christopher Nolan, among others.
The latter being her most recent collaborator in the film adaptation of “The Odyssey”, where she will play Penelope and will add her talent to stars such as Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Cate Blanchett, Tom Holland and Zendaya.
In addition to this long-awaited film project, Anne is enjoying the reception obtained with the sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada.” And the film directed by David Frankel managed to become a resounding box office success from its opening weekend, where it grossed more than $233 million global dollars.
To date, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” has grossed more than $546 million (approximately $175 million in the United States/Canada and more than $370 million in the rest of the world).
