PM Modi’s Spiritual Visit to Kanyakumari: Following the Path of Swami Vivekananda
PM Modi’s spiritual visit to Kanyakumari, following in the footsteps of Swami Vivekananda, sparks controversy amidst the election season.
It was the year 1892 when Swami Vivekananda arrived in Kanyakumari after touring the entire country. During his stay from 25 to 27 December, he meditated on a large rock amidst the sea, an experience that profoundly influenced his life. He carried the light of knowledge gained here and spread it worldwide. The following year, in 1893, his speech at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago captivated the attention of the global community. He passionately advocated for Sanatan Dharma and Indian culture, earning recognition not just for himself but for Indian heritage as a whole.
Narendra’s Focus in 2024
Swami Vivekananda's ideals have significantly impacted Prime Minister Modi's life. He has often spoken about this influence and encouraged the youth to draw inspiration from Swami Vivekananda. In line with this, PM Modi has chosen Kanyakumari to reaffirm his commitment to a developed India, following the path shown by Vivekananda.
Why is the Opposition Worried?
While this is a personal initiative of PM Modi, the opposition has raised concerns, labeling it as a clear violation of the election code of conduct. They argue that the Prime Minister's visit could indirectly influence voting behavior even after the conclusion of the election campaign. However, PM Modi has a history of embarking on spiritual journeys just before critical junctures.
Before the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, PM Modi visited Kedarnath Dham, where he meditated for 17 hours in Rudra Cave. Similarly, prior to the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, he paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Pratapgarh. These visits hold symbolic significance, reflecting PM Modi's aspirations for the country's future.
Swami Vivekananda, also known as Narendra Dutt, envisioned a developed India in 1892 on the sacred grounds of Kanyakumari. Now, 132 years later, another Narendra Modi is taking a pledge to elevate the nation to greater heights on the same hallowed land. PM Modi remains confident about his third term, setting ambitious goals for India's development by 2047, even before the election results are announced.
