Presence of immigration raids stop celebrations of July 4 in Los Angeles
The cities of Cudahy and Bell Gardens announced they were postponing their events for the safety of their residents; Huntington Park did not provide a reason for the cancellation.
Due to raids by federal immigration agencies, three predominantly Latino cities in Los Angeles County announced they were canceling all events related to the July 4 holiday.
The decision by officials in the cities of Cudahy, Bell Gardens, and Huntington Park was based on safety concerns for their immigrant communities.
The city of Cudahy, where 97% of its residents identify as Hispanic or Latino, announced Wednesday that it would postpone its Independence Day celebration, scheduled for Thursday, July 3.
