Ukraine bombs military and energy targets in Russia

More than 120 firefighters were trying to extinguish a fire at an oil depot in the Russian city of Sochi, caused by an attack by Ukrainian drones, according to reports on Sunday (03.08.2025). Regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev, hours after kyiv reported shelling of Russian military and energy targets.
A fuel tank with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters (70,000 cubic feet) was on fire, Russia's RIA news agency reported, citing emergency officials in the Krasnodar region, where Sochi is located.
Rosaviatsia, Russia's civil aviation authority, said on Telegram that flights had been suspended at Sochi airport to ensure air safety.
Reuters was not able to independently verify the reports.
The attack, which Kondratyev said took place in the Adler district of the coastal city tourist, would be the latest by Ukraine against infrastructure inside Russia that Kyiv considers key to Moscow's war efforts.
Attacks on Sochi, the city that hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics, have been rare in the war that Russia began in February 2022.
The Krasnodar region on the Black Sea is home to the Ilsky refinery near the city of Krasnodar, one of the largest in southern Russia and a frequent target of Ukrainian drone strikes.
Missile attacks on Kyiv
Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv overnight and early this morning, according to the capital's military administration Ukrainian.
Reuters witnesses heard a loud explosion rock the city shortly after midnight on Saturday.
Hours earlier, Ukraine said it had bombed military and energy targets in Russia.
Ukraine's security services (SBU) said long-range drones targeted the Primorsko-Akhtarsk military airfield in the Krasnodar region of southwestern Russia.
According to the source,The attacks caused a fire at the facility, where Russia allegedly stores Iranian-made Shahed drones used to attack Ukrainian territory.
The SBU also claimed that the attacks hit the Elektropribor company in the southern Penza region, which “works for the Russian military-industrial complex.”
Ukraine carries out such attacks frequently, in response to Moscow’s invasion in February 2022 and almost daily shelling by Russian forces.
