Evacuation orders lifted for thousands of Orange County residents
Officials confirm return home of Garden Grove residents after reducing the area under evacuation order; the update affects 16,000 people
Thousands of Garden Grove residents were allowed to return to their homes after Orange County authorities announced the reduction of the area in which the restriction remains active due to the risk of explosion of a tank with a toxic chemical substance.
According to the Chief of the Garden Grove Police Department, Amir El-Farra, the area under the evacuation order affects about 16,000 residents, of the 50,000 who had to leave their homes since Thursday, May 21.
The area includes Orangewood Avenue to the north, Dale Street to the east, Knott Street to the west and Garden Grove Boulevard to the south.
