Iranian missile hits residential building in Haifa: 4 injured
Among the victims is a 10-month-old baby. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed it was a direct hit
Four people were injured this Sunday in Haifa after an Iranian missile struck a residential building in the metropolitan area of ??this northern Israeli port city, whose refinery was attacked twice previously by Tehran. One of the injured is in serious condition. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that it was a direct hit. The Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) concurred that it was a direct hit on a seven-story residential building and detailed that among the injured was an 82-year-old man, in serious condition due to falling debris. He was found after rescuers removed heavy concrete blocks. In addition, a 77-year-old woman, a 38-year-old woman, and a 10-month-old baby—who suffered a head injury—were also treated for minor injuries caused by shrapnel and the explosion. According to MDA, neighbors indicated that there is a possibility that more people are trapped in the wreckage. Israeli Channel 12 reported that the missile carried a 450-kilogram warhead.
This is not the first attack
“Upon arriving at the street, we saw a multi-story building that had been hit, with considerable destruction at the scene. Residents present informed us that there were injured people trapped under the rubble on the lower floors,” stated Shevach Rothenshtrych, a paramedic with MDA. The attack occurred minutes after the army warned of detecting a new round of missiles fired from Iran.
This is not the first time Haifa has been hit by an Iranian attack during this war. The largest city in northern Israel saw its refinery struck by missiles last week, though no casualties were reported. This was the second time this infrastructure had been hit, as it was also damaged on March 19, causing power outages in some neighborhoods of the port city. In Israel, Iranian missiles and Hezbollah projectiles have left 19 dead since the offensive against the Persian country began on February 28.according to the latest MDA report.
