New department in Los Angeles County to serve the homeless
The launch of the Department of Homeless and Housing Services was announced; the new entity requested a budget of $820 million
Los Angeles County unveiled the Department of Homeless and Housing Services, which will be the new agency responsible for addressing the homelessness problem.
County leaders said the new authority will allow the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to have better oversight of funds allocated to the homeless.
The creation of the new department comes after the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) reported hundreds of millions of dollars in wasted funds.
