Opposition in Mexico opts for violence as a last resort
The Generation Z march in the Mexican capital, yet another effort by the right wing to avoid disappearing
The Generation Z march in Mexico City was supposed to be a non-partisan, peaceful, and non-violent march of young people, but it turned out to be mostly political made up of people in their 30s, from the opposition (PRI, PAN, MC), very violent, and left 100 police officers injured and 40 people detained, many of them instigators of violence.
The Generation Z march in Mexico City It was presented as a youth-oriented, non-partisan, peaceful and non-violent event. However, it ended up being mostly made up of people around 30 years old, linked to opposition parties (PRI, PAN, MC), and resulted in serious acts of violence that left 100 police officers injured and 40 arrested, several of them identified as instigators of the riots. This is not surprising since many of those who called for the march were 8 million bots (fake users hired to promote the march), also used to promote the candidacy of Xochitl Galvez (PRIAN) and the demonstrations of the Pink Tide (PRIAN and Claudio X. Gonzalez), "For the defense of the Judiciary" and "The INE is not to be touched." This information had been revealed by journalist Salvador Frausto on the Astillero Informa channel, days before the march. "These are opposition causes disguised as a supposed march called by young people under 28 years old," said the journalist. However, social media analysis conducted with artificial intelligence tools by Milenio showed that it was all a digital fabrication designed to create the impression that the young people were outraged and demanding the recall of Claudia Sheinbaum. march that the only option left was violence. In fact, part of the promotion and slogans of the groups that promoted the demonstration included the idea of ??setting fire to the National Palace, citing the case of Nepal, where federal buildings were burned to force the resignation of authorities.
It is striking that in the march there were prayer groups giving their blessing to those of the Black Bloc, while others attacked the authorities with firecrackers, rockets, stones, hammers, torches, machetes, and chains. La Jornada even reported that some groups of protesters shouting “we want peace” also celebrated the violent harassment of the Cathedral and the National Palace by the group that went so far as to disrupt a march that, yes, had been peaceful in the first few hours.
Another thing that stood out was the misogyny and racism of the verbal attacks against President Sheinbaum, even by women themselves, some employees of the TV Azteca magnate who refuses to pay taxes and who recently declared himself far-right; in addition to promoting the march.
We clarify that the vast majority of those present, including a small percentage of Generation Z, also participated peacefully and had their own demands, such as an end to the violence and justice for the recently murdered mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo.
However, many young people from Generation Z who initially called for the march in a genuine and honest way later distanced themselves upon learning that the movement had been hijacked by organizations, a tycoon who refuses to pay taxes, and opposition political parties.
The main message was to show the United States that Mexico is governed by drug cartels and that instead of fighting them, the authorities fight and repress the people.
It should be mentioned that the police, who only carried shields, helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, and some fire extinguishers to prevent fires, did not act until dozens of members of the Black Bloc tore down the metal fence surrounding the National Palace. That's when the police began to contain the violence.
Meanwhile, many of those who called for the march on their social media (X) were monitoring and falsely describing what was happening in the Zocalo.
Ricardo Salinas Pliego: “Repression, violence, and threats against people are just doing their jobs.”
At the same time, the young PRI federal deputy Carlos Mancilla, president of the Youth Commission and the same one who assaulted former Senate President Gerardo Norona, 65, in the police station, wrote on X:
Carlos GM: We are receiving reports of alleged sniper presence in the National Palace and they are massacring young people! Out with the narco-government, Morena is leaving. People united.
Moments later, Alex Jones, a far-right figure in the United States (banned from television for lying),He began to amplify the news of the supposed repression that Mexicans were experiencing.
Real Alex Jones: The Mexican government is on the verge of collapse. Mexico has rebelled against the communist president backed by China!Battle in Mexico City! In the main square, the Zocalo, patriots clash with police protecting the Presidential Palace. Officers fire tear gas and bullets. Mexico rises up against Sheinbaum…
The violence and the slogan were such that even some groups that were apparently not the violent ones turned against a young woman from Generation Z, who stood on a corner with a sign that read: “Generation Z are not right-wing old people.”
Furthermore, the young woman told a reporter from El Universal, a newspaper not aligned with the 4T (Fourth Transformation), that the march was a farce because most of the people were PAN (National Action Party) supporters, who insulted and pushed her.
