Secretary of a high school in Indiana is accused of having relations with a student
Alicia Hughes is accused of having relations with a student on at least 5 occasions, and was caught by her husband dating another young man
A married secretary at an Indiana high school was beaten by her husband when he allegedly caught her dating a student, leading to an investigation that revealed she had had sex with another student.
The Union City Police Department was investigating the incident in which Alicia Hughes was beaten during the past weekend.
Hughes' husband found her with an 18-year-old student and confronted them. Then he hit her, according to police.
During the investigation into the incident, investigators discovered that Hughes, a secretary with the Randolph Eastern School Corporation (RESC), also had a sexual relationship with another 17-year-old student.
“Investigators determined that Hughes and the minor had sexual relations on at least five occasions,” according to a police statement.
Hughes was arrested and charged with five counts of child enticement related to the sexual relationship with the student.
She was taken to the Randolph County Jail and held on $25,000 bail.
In a statement, the school district director, Neal Adams, indicated that Hughes had been removed from all her duties pending the outcome of the legal process.
“RESC takes all concerns involving students very seriously. Upon learning of the concerns, the corporation fully cooperated with law enforcement and will continue to do so “as the investigation progresses,” he stated. “We appreciate the professionalism and diligence of the local authorities in handling this matter.”
