Trump desists from sending more agents to San Francisco but Newsom is not convinced
Concerns about the presence of federal agents persist in the Bay Area even after Trump's decision not to deploy troops
In a post on Social Truth, Trump said friends called him to urge him not to move forward with the federal troop emerges after arguing that the city's Democratic mayor, Daniel Lurie, “was making substantial progress.”

Additionally, Newsom posted the following message in English and Spanish on his X account,warning that Trump wants to deploy the military to San Francisco:
Despite Trump's about-face, Newsom said not to assume the threat has passed.
“I don't believe for one second that this is the end of it in California, quite the opposite,” Newsom said. "This guy is turning around. Watch ICE, not just the National Guard. Watch with your own eyes what's happening everywhere. This guy is a president of chaos."
Newsom also thanked San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie for cooperating in intercepting the planned federal operation, saying it could have had serious economic and emotional consequences for the city.
Protesters protest arrival of federal agents in the Bay Area
Federal agents arrived at Coast Guard Island in Alameda on Thursday morning and were met by protesters, according to ABC 7 Bay Area News.
Protesters were waiting for federal agents at the entrance to the island around 7:14 am US Coast Guard security forces had to use flash-bang grenades to force the vehicles through the group of protesters.
Many of the protesters carried signs or wore masks and were pacing back and forth in the crosswalk.
Two protesters were injured when federal agents arrived at Coast Guard Island in Alameda Thursday morning. Video obtained by ABC7 News and posted on he said.
The video also shows one of the protesters being hit in the jaw by a flash grenade.
