Trump reacts to Tiger Woods accident: 'He's an amazing person'
Tiger Woods was detained for at least eight hours in a Florida county jail after his vehicle overturned
Woods' accident was caused by “high-speed overtaking”
The accident occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. GMT) when the vehicle driven by Woods attempted to overtake a pickup truck with a trailer “at high speed” on a narrow road, but ended up hitting the rear of the other vehicle and rolling onto its driver's side.
“An investigation was launched and, initially, from the outset, it appeared that the driver of the Land Rover (Tiger Woods) may have been under the influence of some substance,” he stated.
This is not the first time Woods has been involved in a road accident. In February 2021, he suffered open fractures to his tibia and fibula after a serious crash in Los Angeles that seriously jeopardized his career.
Woods was working towards a return to racing after rupturing his Achilles tendon in 2025.
